Chiapa Ex-state farm (hacienda)

With almost 200 years of life, the Chiapa Hacienda is one of the oldest in the state and has its original furniture; The former governor Griselda Álvarez Ponce de León lived there until her adolescence. The stories of the hacienda are endless, from the experiences that the Álvarez family, the first owner, had, through the different social movements in the country, and earthquakes, to the events that the Peralta family, the current owner of this space, has experienced.

Carrizalillos' Lagoon

The Carrizalillo Lagoon is a body of water located at the foot of the Colima Volcano, ideal for enjoying a picnic with water and mountain landscapes. The Carrizalillos lagoon is ideal for observing varied vegetation, oaks, pines, eucalyptus, and different fauna, such as colorful birds, ducks, chachalacas, parakeets, ocote raja, robins, and herons.

Did you know that the state of Colima has several microclimates? That happens because it has different elevations above sea level, the lowest is at the beach and the highest is on the top of the Colima’s active volcano, with an elevation of 3860 meters above sea level. In addition to that, Colima occupies a part of the southern Sierra Madre, as well as part of the Mexican neo-volcanic axis, and also has some valleys, rivers, lagoons, and mangroves. As a result of these factors, we have a great diversity of flora and fauna. This favors that we have an avifauna of more than 450 different species of birds, just over 40 of which are endemic to Mexico.
